Effective August 1, 2025

• WisDOT has implemented a wheel tax (annual county vehicle registration fee) of $40 for the City of Fitchburg. This fee applies to vehicles with registrations expiring in July 2025 or any vehicle registered on or after August 1, 2025.

Future fee increases and dates to keep in mind: 

Effective October 1, 2025

• $50 fee increase on titles, making the new fee $214.50 
• 10% increase in Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) plates that applies to:
  
  • 8,000 lbs. Light Trucks (LTK), and 
  • Heavy Truck (HTK) plates up to 80,000 lbs.
• $2 increase on Replacement Plates (previous $4 fee, now $6) 
  
  • The special plate replacement fee will not be affected 

Effective January 1, 2026

• The City of Neenah will see a $30 wheel tax that will affect vehicles with registrations expiring in December 2025 or any vehicle registered on or after January 1, 2026
• New license plates — Blackout and Retro — will become available

With over two decades of experience in the automotive industry, Tom Bruce is an Account Executive for Vitu Wisconsin. Throughout his career, he held various roles in the dealership world, including General Sales Manager, Finance Director, and F&I Manager. Additionally, he has eight years of experience working at leading auto auctions as well as in the Electronic Vehicle Title and Registration (EVTR) field as an Account Executive.

Tom’s passion for teaching, training, and helping others achieve new levels and skills has only grown over the years. “I believe in helping people and trying to pass on knowledge that I have learned in the many years in the automotive field as well as in life,” Tom said. He values learning everything he can to advance his knowledge and help others.

Tom is married to his wife, with whom he shares four children, four granddaughters, and two cavapoos. When he’s not working, he enjoys spending time outdoors, hunting, fishing, and cheering on his two favorite sports teams, the Vikings and the Wild. For over 20 years, Tom has been a proud member of his local Ducks Unlimited, a conservation organization that restores and manages wetlands and associated habitats for North America's waterfowl.
