Run monthly plate inventory reports
Please remember to run your On-Hand Inventory report at the end of each month.
Have you sent in your annual report?
Just a friendly reminder that the DMV requires you to submit your dealership’s plate reconciliation report showing what you had on hand at the end of the year (2025). This report was due to DMV Fiscal Services by January 15th, so if you haven’t done it already, make sure you submit by e-mail to dmv.plates@ct.gov.
Reconciliation procedures
When reconciling plate inventory, follow these steps:
- Print the plate inventory report at the end of business on the last day of each month.
- Physically confirm that the plates located at your dealership match the plates printed on the report. Pay close attention to:
- Plate type
- Plate quantity
- Plate series numbers
- The Manager or Supervisor must sign and date the report.
- Reports need to be kept on file for 2 years.
- File each monthly report and keep records for 2 years in accordance with DMV rules.
Should you discover a discrepancy with plate inventory, please contact the Department of Motor Vehicles Marker Room staff to report the discrepancy at 860-263-5433.

Does your dealership have new or additional users that need access to process Connecticut Reg & Title online?
A Connecticut Automotive Retailers Association (CARA) certificate is required for each new user of the Connecticut Online Registration and Title Program.
CARA will be holding their next DMV Policy & Procedure Zoom class on Thursday, February 12th at 10:30AM.
To register, please email CARA@ctcar.org with the following information:
- Attendee name
- Attendee email address
- Business legal name
- Connecticut Dealer License number.
All Connecticut title & reg users must complete both CARA training on policies and procedures and Vitu's CIVLS training on the software, and retain the Certificates of Completion issued for each.

As a reminder, using a laptop to process title and registration transactions is not permitted in Connecticut. A windows desktop is advised by the state.

To keep your account access current, be sure to notify us when a processor leaves your dealership so we can remove their access. Send requests to inactivate former employees to RTSForms@vitu.com
A few reminders
- For access to CT Reg & Title, each user must have CARA certification and complete CIVLS training.
- This is imperative — every user must log in to Vitu with their own unique credentials. Private login information must NEVER be shared, as that user will be solely responsible for any activity or data associated with their account.

Recently, we sent out our 2026 Due Date Submission Calculator “Calendar” Wheels to your dealership. If you need more of these handy tools for quickly pinpointing your crucial title and reg work deadlines, just reach out to your Vitu Account Executive.
