Make sure you don’t let your inventory shipments sit in the box until the stock is depleted — which could be a couple months down the road. This practice does not align with DMV rules. Here’s the better way.
As soon as you receive a new inventory shipment, take these steps:
- Find the packing slip that accompanies each inventory shipment. It should have instructions to reconcile contents delivered.
- Sign and date the packing slip.
- Scan or take a photo of this packing slip and email it to the Marker Room (follow the instructions on the packing slip).
- Within 24 hours of receipt, you must do the following:
- Using the packing slip, confirm the order belongs to your dealership.
- Physically check the inventory by matching it against the packing slip, confirming that the marker plates are in sequential order.
Note: There should not be any missing plates in the sequence, unless a plate or series of plates have been deemed offensive and were not manufactured.
- If there is missing or damaged inventory, immediately contact the DMV marker room at 860-263-5433.
- Upon completion of the above steps, inventory must be entered in Vitu Connecticut.
- Sign in to Vitu Connecticut.
- Within the Manage / Inventory tabs, enter the required information to Receive the new inventory into the system.
