In a “Go Meet” state (AL, KS, KY, MS, NE), the customer must be physically present at that state’s county office to complete certain title or registration requirements. If your dealership completes a transaction for a “Go Meet” state, please ensure that your customer is informed that their county office will contact them directly to schedule an appointment to finalize the title and registration process. It is essential that they complete this step as soon as possible.

Vitu will also document in the Communication tab when a customer is required to visit the county office, along with the applicable county contact information.

Please note: most counties will hold paperwork for approximately 30 days before returning it as incomplete. To prevent delays or the transaction from being returned, it is critical that your customer visits the county office promptly upon notification.

Always ensure that the correct Vehicle and Body Type is selected in Vitu Interstate when processing a transaction.

Selecting the wrong type can impact:

  • Fees charged
  • Plate types issued
  • Required paperwork
  • Customer signatures

If the incorrect type is selected, new paperwork may be required, which can delay the transaction.

Important Reminders:

Do not use 2 Door or 4 Door for SUVs or Trucks.

Taking a moment to verify the correct vehicle and body type before submitting will help prevent delays, additional paperwork, and fee discrepancies.

If you are claiming an Exemption or Reciprocity Taxes, it is very important to ensure Vitu is aware.

For 24 states, you will now see Exemption and Reciprocity questions in the Sale Info section of Vitu Interstate.

  • If applicable, you must select Yes
  • When Yes is selected, the Fee Quote will reflect this and the checklist will require proof documentation.

At the bottom of the Vitu Interstate Fee Quote, the following disclosure is provided:

Exemptions or Reciprocity taxes are granted at the discretion of the state. All required documentation must be provided in full for the state to consider and honor the exemption. Approval is subject to review and compliance with state-specific regulations.

What does this mean?

  • The state may reject the exemption or reciprocity documentation.
  • If rejected, the state can charge the full amount shown on the Fee Quote.
  • In some cases, a customer’s exemption may have expired with the state, and this may not be clearly indicated on the proof provided.

For this reason, Vitu always shows:

  • The full amount potentially due to the state, and
  • The adjusted amount if the exemption/reciprocity is accepted.

Please ensure that all documentation is complete and accurate to help avoid delays or unexpected charges.

Note: If you do not see the Exemption or Reciprocity questions in Vitu Interstate, please complete the Sales Tax Worksheet, per any checklist requirements.

If reciprocity is being claimed, please be sure to complete the middle box, Credit for Sales Tax, with the amount that was paid to the selling state.

See below for an example of a California Sales Tax Worksheet.

In our ongoing efforts to provide best-in-class tools and functionality, we continue developing and implementing improved Tax and Fee estimators within Vitu Interstate. These enhanced calculators incorporate both current tax and fee rates, and also feature:

  • Reciprocity — Where your dealership will see credit for taxes paid within the selling state
  • Exemptions — What special scenarios provide registrants with tax/fee exemptions
  • Late Fees — Incorporation of any late fee/penalty situations

The Fee Quote now includes Reciprocity and Exemption fields.

All of this is being built behind the scenes in Interstate, which means the improved fee estimations require no special training or implementation. Vitu has released these enhanced calculators for the following states:

  • Alabama, Arizona, Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota (New), Montana, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Wisconsin (New), and Wyoming (New)

Louisiana, Missouri, South Carolina, Washington, and West Virginia, are set to release this month, and additional states are planned for release through Q2 of 2026.

The trade-in titling process can be a slog — no longer. With Accelerated Title (AT) and National Title Exchange (NTX) working in unison, dealers cut weeks off of their trade-in titling process. Here’s how:

The Accelerated Title difference.

Waiting weeks (or longer) for lien payoffs and title releases? Accelerated Title provides both in just 4-6 business days, saving time and headaches while helping you generate profits faster.

Dealers who use Accelerated Title see:

  • 80% faster title releases, with most titles in hand as fast as 4-6 days¹
  • 165+ active lenders — and growing — available to help you speed payoff, lien, and title release on trades
  • $36 saved per day in average daily holding costs per vehicle²
  • 2x higher likelihood to sell vehicles on the first pass at auction with title in hand
  • Accurate payoff quotes in just a few clicks

And once the lien is paid off and the title is released? That’s where NTX comes in.

Dealer titles in days — meet NTX.

Instead of waiting for manual processing and potential delays when acquiring a title in your dealership’s name, NTX provides an E-Title or a physical title in hand in 1-3 business days — not the weeks or months the traditional process takes.

NTX allows you to overcome traditional titling roadblocks, and you reap the benefits:

  • Vehicle acquisition and trade-in — Unprecedented speed and security with a completely digital process
  • Speed to retail — Title in hand before selling the vehicle, avoiding the hassle of rebuilding a chain of custody
  • Skip duplicate titles — With NTX, get a paper dealer title in 1 to 3 business days or less
  • Be auction ready — Title in hand brings in an average of 10-20% more in wholesale profit per vehicle

The process is simple — Obtain chain of custody (with a Bill of Sale and Odometer Statement, for example, obtain a lien satisfaction if a lien is on the vehicle (or just pay it off with Accelerated Title), then simply sign, upload and submit docs. The process is easy and completely digital.

Level up your process.

Don’t let lien payoffs and title releases plus dealer titles get in the way of profit — move vehicles off your lot faster.
