As indicated in KRS186A.017(8), the online system filing fee is a pass through fee collected from the purchaser at the time of sale. This language must be indicated on the Buyer’s Order as a separate line item. The pass through fee for transfer transactions is $50.00.A collection acknowledgement is required of the person submitting the application for registration and title on behalf of the purchaser(s). This fee is collected for transfer transactions resulting in completed and approved electronic registration and title applications. Any collected fee that did not result in an electronic registration and title completion by the county clerk, must be refunded to the customer.

We suggest routinely reviewing your Buyer’s Orders to ensure the fee is being collected correctly and the language matches the statutory requirements.
