Manually enter the Secondary Body Style
It’s now a mandatory field that does not auto-populate.

The SB 331 bill recently passed legislation that requires vehicle owners to have the correct color of the vehicle listed on their registration. With that being said, if you enter a color while you are processing the title, absolutely make sure it's the correct color — otherwise just leave it blank. This is not a required field for a Title Only, but we want to make sure that if you add it, you are entering the correct color.
We cannot stress enough how important this is for the citizens of Indiana. This new bill allows for fines to be assessed if the color is wrong or isn’t corrected in a timely manner. Because most customers never look at the information on the registration, it is extremely important to get this right. If you don’t know the actual color, not selecting anything forces the customer to provide the color to the BMV branch at the time of registration, which is preferable.
Registration transactions
For registration transactions, the correct color must be provided, so please make sure you add the color to your cover page or title application when sending the deal into the office for processing.

If a Power of Attorney (POA) appoints an individual, you must provide a copy of that person’s Driver License (DL) or ID card. This also applies to POAs signed with a dealer agent name, such as "John Doe of John Doe Auto Sales." However, if the POA appoints your dealership’s name only, then no DL or ID is required.

When processing title transactions, you may have noticed that you must now manually enter the Secondary Body Style. This is now a mandatory field and will not automatically auto-populate. The primary vehicle field populates, but the secondary does not.
For all SUVs and Vans, please make sure you choose "passenger" for the secondary body style.

We’d like to clear up a misconception if you are wondering why we ask for a copy of the Dealer Buyer's Order when the amount on the Convenience Fee form is $0.00.
The reason for this when completing the Convenience Fee Disclosure form, if you enter a $0.00 amount, you must also provide the Dealer Buyer's Order for this deal that shows no convenience fee was charged to the customer.
This is not required by Vitu — it is a state requirement.

It’s important that bundles are scanned correctly and on time, so here are a few tips for you.
- All bundles must be scanned by the next business day after the bundle is completed.
- When scanning the bundles, you must make sure the bundle cover page is on top of every scan file.
- For large bundles that must be split in half, the top page of the bundle cover page must be on top of each of the PDF files.
Please follow these tips — otherwise your scans will not transmit over to our scan queue.

The address listed on the signed title application must match the address associated with the Electronic Lien and Title (ELT) ID number. The link below will take you directly to the BMV website ELT information page.
https://www.in.gov/bmv/titles/electronic-lien-and-titling-overview/
You can click on the E-lien lienholder ID numbers box to see the list of each ELT lienholder and their ELT ID number/address. Please use this list to make sure the correct ELT numbers are on your title applications and the addresses associated are correct.
Tip: Since this is a PDF, you can search for anything by pressing CTRL + F on your keyboard (Mac users, Command +F). It’s a long list! Make your life easier.

If you process your own deals, make sure you enter the full ELT Lienholder ID Number including the last 4 digits to choose the correct address in Vitu.
Note: In the past, the state allowed the addresses to not match if the ELT number and lien name were correct, but now the state rejects applications if the address does not match. The BMV policy has also been updated to show that the addresses should match.
