Since Michelle Luna’s journey in the automotive technology industry began in March 2004, her professional path has been marked by growth, adaptability, and a dedication to client success. Starting as an Implementation Representative, Michelle trained clients on a suite of products. “I did that for a couple of years and then held different roles such as Contract Analyst, Sales Support Analyst, and QA Tester before joining the registration and titling world,” she recalls. After Vitu acquired the Dealertrack Registration & Titling Businesses (read more, here), Michelle recently shifted from being New Jersey’s only Senior Client Trainer to her new role as Assistant Operations Manager, actively building a local team of Account Executives.

Outside the office, Michelle is a proud partner and a mom to her teenage son, Phoenix. Travel is a favorite pastime. “My favorite vacation spot is Florida because I can drive there,” she says. “I go on a lot of cruises and enjoy beautiful, long, scenic drives.” A lifelong lover of dance, Michelle reflects, “When I was a kid, I swore I would grow up to be a ‘Solid Gold’ dancer or a ‘Fly Girl.’ (I know I just aged myself by saying that!)”

Michelle’s collaborative mindset fuels her leadership style: “I value other people’s thoughts and opinions… It forces me to think ‘outside my brain box’ and perhaps learn something new.” Her vibrant personality is complemented by a strong sense of faith, kindness, and empathy. She finds fulfillment in helping others, and lives by the principle of treating people with compassion. “My faith encourages me to be kind and mindful of others,” she shares. “A smile and a kind gesture can go a long way for anyone having a rough day.”

The New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission (MVC) has reported receiving a concerning amount of illegible documents from dealers. As a result, documents that are missing critical information or are not legible due to low printer toner will be voided. To avoid delayed transactions, please ensure that all transaction files are complete, legible, and accurate. Below are examples of illegible documents.

Exactly what is a Courtesy Deal and why is it a prohibited online transaction? Let’s dive in to find out.

Courtesy deals are vehicles being processed and delivered on behalf of another party. The sold vehicle is not coming out of the processing dealership’s inventory. The dealership is only delivering the vehicle and processing the motor vehicle transaction on behalf of the two interested parties. 

These transactions are prohibited from being processed online because there is no way to properly collect and show the New Jersey Sales Tax.

Courtesy deals MUST be processed manually.

So, there you have it!  Please avoid processing Courtesy Deals online and avoid having to pay the backoff fees. For more details, you can watch this brief training video.
