Here are a few tips to remember when you can and cannot take advantage of a T20 (dealer title).

If there is an open reassignment on a title and/or MCO, but you would like to title it in your dealership's name, this does not qualify for a T20 (dealer title) because there are usable reassignments and full title price of $165 is due.

If there are no available reassignments on the title and/or MCO or your dealership is listed on a title rider/supplemental reassignment form, this does qualify for a T20 (dealer title) and the discounted title fee is $20.

Not acceptable applications for Expedited Titles will either be returned to your dealership or moved to normal ERT processing. See this list below.

  • Any duplicate title that requires a lien release (unless eligible and validated as a T20 title)
  • Any MCO older than two years old.
  • Any vehicle previously salvaged in Illinois and rebuilt out of state.
  • Any vehicle from Indiana that is marked not actual mileage.
  • Any vehicle with a Native American title, territory title or title from out of the country
  • Out-of-state titles going from individual to individual (private party sales)
  • Out-of-state titles owned by an individual in another state then moved to Illinois and needs an Illinois title.
  • Out-of-state trailers, atvs etc. that do not have titles.
  • Any vehicle that has been reported stolen.
  • Any no fee title work (retakes, non receipt, etc ... unless someone is requesting a retake for a title that was produced by expedited)
  • Bonds
  • Mechanic liens
  • Repossessions
  • Bankruptcies
  • Estate work
  • Salvage Titles
  • Junk Titles
  • Any type of title work that requires extra/special documentation (VIN/Odo Corrections etc)

If the lienholder's ELT# you select starts with a  'D', 'DD', 'E'  the state will send that lienholder a notification that they are being listed as the lienholder.

The lienholder MUST either approve or deny the notification.

  • If they approve the notification, then the lien will be recorded as ELT Original.
  • If they deny the notification, the title will be printed and sent to the customer or dealer depending on who submitted the transaction.

If you are trying to apply for a duplicate/corrected title and an Electronic Lien was listed, the lienholder MUST release the lien electronically. At the time of release, the lienholder will need to request the title to be sent to the designated party, whether it be themselves, the customer or a 3rd party. You will NOT be able to apply for a duplicate/corrected title removing the electronic lien with a paper lien release.

Hey, everyone — this is just a grab bag of important reminders the state brought up in quarterly meeting — help us help you.

Find deals fast with keyword search

To search for an application processed in Vitu (title, title/reg, tax return only), please go to the Vehicles Tab, and type the last 6 of the VIN in the Keyword box on the left-hand side. Once the deal is brought up, click the blue hyperlink/numbers to enter the deal.Default Rich Text Content

Once on the next page, you will select the dark blue button, either displaying Generate Forms, Continue to Generate Forms, or Continue Tax/title/reg. You will then be taken to the application to input the needed information.

Secure POA no-nos

Secure POAs (Power of Attorney) cannot be altered. The state will flag POAs that have strikeouts, write-overs, and white-outs. Please provide a new SPOA for that seller/customer as alterations are not acceptable. Furthermore, if our team receives and audits an application that has the trade- in on the SPOA instead of the one needed for the VIN on the application, it will be returned to your dealer's location to use for future sales.

ERT ≠ AOC

ERT Correction Forms are not the same as Affirmation of Corrections. ERTs (aka Buck Sheets) are not for the purpose of correcting what is on the title. They are strictly for correcting what is listed on the title application. Affirmation of Corrections (AOCs) are only used for title corrections. They cannot be used for POAs, nor can they be signed by a POA.

Mileage Correction

To correct mileage printed on a title, please submit a statement from the seller printed on the title, the dealership, and the current buyer confirming that the mileage that was printed is incorrect and what the correct mileage should be. This is only applicable for Illinois titles.

For titles printed in other states, not only will that state have to correct the mileage and print a new title reflecting the change, but the NMVITS report will have to reflect the current and correct mileage as well. For assistance with correcting titles in other states, please contact our Interstate department. And that leads us to…

Inventory returns deadline: What you need to know

Please remember that all inventory returns must be received in the Vitu Office no later than the 25th of each month. Submitting on time helps our warehouse team reconcile returns accurately and ensures correct billing for your account.

Missing inventory? Submit Police Reports by the 25th

If any inventory is missing, a Police Report must be submitted in its place. Please make sure to:

  • File the report with your local police department as soon as possible to ensure you receive the official documentation on time
  • Notify our Warehouse team right away that inventory is missing and that a police report will be provided
  • Ensure the official Police Report is received in the Vitu Office by the 25th of the month for it to be considered for credit

Pro Tip: Bundle your orders and save on shipping

Here’s an easy way to save time and money — when placing orders, try to bundle everything from the same location into one. Sending in multiple separate orders can add up to extra shipping costs and create mix-ups. One order, one shipment equals smoother process for everyone

What is a terminal authorization, you ask? Vitu takes extra precautions to ensure the safety of all our customers’ information by requiring a terminal to be authorized for use. To authorize your terminal, click Authorize Terminal, fill in the appropriate info and submit. Your dealership’s admin has the ability to approve it. If not, our Support Team can assist with that as well.

Frequent changes to the operating system or clearing of cookies may require an additional authorization. If this becomes a frequent issue, please reach out to the Vitu Virginia Team.

For additional details on Terminal Authorization and approving requests in the Admin panel, please take a look at this month’s Interstate Quick Tips with the link below.

We wanted to take a second to say thank you to everyone who participated in our Satisfaction Survey in August! We rely on your feedback to continue improving what we do at Vitu, and we appreciate the time you took to help us.

If you took the survey and never received your $5 gift card, please check your spam folder. If you still can’t find it, email us at marketing@vitu.com — we’ll be sure to get it out.
