Effective October 1, 2025, the duration for the out-of-state temporary permit will increase to 60 days, up from the current 31 days.

E–Signatures are now accepted on Lien Releases, but it's important to distinguish them from copies of wet-ink (live) signatures, which are not valid.

• A wet-ink signature refers to a physical signature written with pen on paper.
• An eSignature is a digital signature created through approved electronic signing platforms.
• Copies of wet-ink signatures (e.g., scanned or photocopied versions) are expressly not valid and must still be signed live.

What is a terminal authorization, you ask? Vitu takes extra precautions to ensure the safety of all our customers’ information by requiring a terminal to be authorized for use. To authorize your terminal, click Authorize Terminal, fill in the appropriate info and submit. Your dealership’s admin has the ability to approve it. If not, our Support Team can assist with that as well. 

Frequent changes to the operating system or clearing of cookies may require an additional authorization. If this becomes a frequent issue, please reach out to the Vitu Virginia Team.
